California is a beautiful state any time of the year. When you should visit depends mainly on which part of the state you plan to see and what you want to do.
Busy Summer Season
If you like to be in the heart of things with big crowds and the energy that often comes with it, summer is the optimal time to visit. This is the time of the year when everyone comes to Disneyland and to see other major attractions. It also happens to be a great time to come if your destination is a beach and your plan is to lie out and relax.
You will find numerous outdoor events and festivals during this time of year that stretches from June to September. You can also take off to the mountains for the perfect getaway. However, this is the season to avoid the desert since temperatures can be unbearable.
Spring and Fall
Almost as wonderful is the time before and after the busy season that begins in March through May and picks up in September through November. The best thing about visiting during these months is that the weather is nice though not quite as warm, but the crowds are smaller. Prices are also lower, which means you can pack more fun into your budget.
Depending on where you choose for your destination, you can even go swimming in the off-season before the water gets chilly. You will find plenty of activities, but shorter lines with the locals back in to their normal schedules.
Winter Vacation
California has plenty to recommend it even in winter. This is the season to visit the desert with mild temperatures. About the only thing you won't want to do is take a swim in the ocean. Plan a vacation for the mountains if you want to see snow and enjoy skiing and other winter activities. You will find plenty of activities to put on your calendar because the Sunshine State doesn't shut down anytime.
Because California has such variety in its climate, you can find the perfect place to visit any time of the year. Choose your date first and select the best destination. Or you can pick the place that most interests you and schedule the best time to visit based on the weather. With everything from coastal towns to desert to mountains, there is something for everyone in California any time of the year.
