What to Expect

While the park is home to the tallest trees in the world, it has so much more to see. Enjoy more than 40 miles of coastline along with woodlands and prairies. This diverse landscape also provides a look at a range of wildlife.

Have your camera ready to capture the magnificent image of the bald eagle or the adorable antics of the California sea lion. Many small animals roam the parks mostly at night, but you might get lucky enough to see woodrats, gophers and mountain beavers. Larger animals are easier to spot and include the gray fox, mountain lions and black bears. With dozens of land and water animals making their homes here, you are sure to spot at least a few of them on your trip.

The mammoth redwoods are only one species of plants that you will see in the Redwood National and State Parks. You will see oak trees, maples, spruce trees and other plant life. Of course, the highlight of the trip will be gazing up at the redwoods, many of which stand more than 300 feet tall.
