We've already mentioned a spectacular assortment of top-notch things to see and do in L.A. However, there are a few that absolutely must be on your list. So, here are our picks for the top attractions in Los Angeles:

The Getty Center

This museum is something that must be seen to be believed. The building itself is an architectural wonder with modern design, open spaces, and breathtaking views of downtown L.A. The artwork includes American and European art, from medieval times up through the present. The immaculate gardens feature extraordinary sights and scents; the central feature is a maze of azaleas floating in a sparkling pool. There's also a unique gift shop and restaurant.

Griffith Observatory

This gateway to the cosmos is located in Griffith Park and provides a peek not only into the stars, but also the L.A. basin and the Hollywood sign. Enjoy the planetarium, exhibits, bookstore, and cafe, too. And, one Saturday a month the observatory hosts a public star-watching party. So fun!

Griffith Park

Yes, this park is home to the Griffith Observatory; but it deserves a separate mention. Griffith Park covers over 4,300 acres; many of which are rugged areas with trails for mountain biking and hiking. There are also picnic grounds, pony rides, and  golf courses. In addition to the Griffith Observatory, there are a host of other attractions here including the Autry National Center, Los Angeles Zoo, Travel Town Museum, Bronson Canyon, Greek Theater, and the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum.

Universal Studios Hollywood

A family favorite, this theme park is jam-packed full of shows, attractions, and rides, all of which are based on movie/TV themes. There's even a real working movie studio. Running the gamut from dinosaurs to Minions, there is something for everyone here. Make sure to plan a visit to CityWalk, a one-stop destination for entertainment, shopping, and dining.

Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

This museum is the largest natural and historical museum in the western U.S. It houses a collection of nearly 35 million artifacts and specimens which span 4.5 billion years of history. The main building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an attraction in and of itself.

Runyon Canyon Park

This often overlooked park just two blocks from Hollywood Boulevard offers fabulous views of the San Fernando Valley and the Pacific. There are several hiking trails ranging from easy to difficult. Keep your eyes open; because of the park's proximity to residential areas of Hollywood and Hollywood Hills, celebrities can often be spotted here. More than half of the park is designated as off-leash areas for dogs.

So, there you have it. Los Angeles is most certainly a destination unlike any other! And whether your star-gazing involves celebrities or the cosmos, there's something for everyone in the City of Angels.
